Laser Hair Removal at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta

Smooth skin after hair removal

Laser hair removal or electrolysis can permanently rid cosmetic skin treatment patients of their unwanted body and facial hair. Dermatology Associates of Atlanta has a dedicated Hair Removal Center within Skin Medics™ Medical Spa as well as a laser center (Laser Institute of Georgia) to meet all of your laser skin treatment needs. The centers’ main focus is to provide your desired results by offering multiple options for hair removal from the upper lip, chin, ear lobe, shoulders, back, underarms, abdomen, buttocks, bikini area, legs, thighs, face, neck, cleavage, chest, arms, hands, and toes. Continuing to provide the latest hair removal services and techniques, our physicians have over 20 years of experience with lasers.

Serving as Georgia’s leading hair removal center, Dermatology Associates of Atlanta were the first to acquire additional treatment options, like Gentlelase & EpiLight for lasting hair removal. The Laser Institute of Georgia also offers electrolysis, performed by Certified Clinical Electrologist Jan Buckley-Levenson, for permanent hair removal customized for your specific skin and hair type, even light-colored hairs not treatable with lasers. Since specific hair colors require specific hair removal technology, DAA has a comprehensive menu of hair removal options. Most patients will achieve permanent hair removal results after 3-6 visits at our Hair Removal Center. Hair removal treatments will remove growing hairs (as opposed to dormant hairs); therefore, the multiple sessions are necessary to remove all unwanted hair.

In addition to laser hair removal, The Laser Institute of Georgia can effectively treat cosmetic needs such as: wrinkle removal, tattoo removal, mole removal, birthmark removal, age and sun spot removal, and more.

Hair Removal Treatment Types

Laser Hair Removal

At Dermatology Associates of Atlanta, we use the GentleLase 755 nm by Candela to remove unwanted face and body hair. Laser Hair Removal works by sending a heat energy beam to selectively target the hair, leaving the surrounding skin untouched. Lasers are attracted to dark pigmentation, so patients with dark hair and light skin respond best to lasers and light. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed to permanently remove all hair since hair grows in cycles.

EpiLight

EpiLight is another hair removal option offered at DAA, and destroys hair follicles similarly to lasers with intense pulsed light (or IPL). The intense pulsed light heats the hair follicle to destroy the follicle and inhibit future growth, without harming surrounding skin. Like laser hair removal, EpiLight requires multiple sessions for permanent hair removal and is more effective for people with dark hair.

electrolysis hair removalElectrolysis

Electrolysis is a method of hair removal that sends electrical currents into each hair follicle, destroying its ability to grow. As performed by our Certified Clinical Electrologist Jan Buckley-Levenson, electrology is the best solution for people with light or white, fine hair.
