CoolSculpting® Non-surgical Fat Reduction

Using a process called Cryolipolysis this new non-surgical fat reduction technology applies targeted cold to small areas of unwanted fat. The cold temperature damages fat cells causing fat to be expelled through the body’s lymphatic system. It’s the solution to getting rid of small pockets of unwanted fat without knives, sutures, lasers, needles, or even recovery time. Safe and effective, CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to eliminate pockets of unwanted fat on the flanks and abdomen.

Due to the lymphatic system’s process of expelling fat, the results begin appearing about three weeks following treatment, with noticeable results in two months. Full results (usually a 20-40% fat reduction) will be present in four to six months. While one treatment will produce noticeable results, many patients undergo a secondary treatment to achieve desired results.
When pursuing fat reduction, it’s important to understand that CoolSculpting® should be reserved for very specific patients. What can I expect from my CoolSculpting results? How soon will they appear?
With one CoolSculpting treatment, most patients see a 20-40% fat reduction within 4-6 months. While results will start appearing within 3 weeks of treatment and noticeable results will be present within 2 months, the lymphatic system’s process of eliminating fat from fat cells takes time. What does CoolSculpting® treatment feel like?
During the first few minutes of your treatment, you will feel firm pressure from the CoolSculpting device, as well as extreme cold. After a few minutes, the treatment area will become numb. Patients are often able to talk to the phone, use their laptop, read a book or even nap during the session.
What’s the recovery time like with CoolSculpting? How soon will I be able to return to normal activities?
Due to the non-invasive nature of this fat reduction treatment, there is no downtime, so you’ll be able to return to normal activities immediately following treatment.
What can I expect during a CoolSculpting treatment?
During a CoolSculpting treatment, your Dermatology Associates of Atlanta provider will place the CoolSculpting device on the treatment area. Once in place, the device sandwiches the tissue between two cooling plates. At first you will feel cold pressure that will discontinue after the first few minutes once the treatment area is numb. During the treatment, you can expect to relax and enjoy some “you time.” Some patients talk on the phone while others bring their laptops or read a book. Now that we offer two CoolSculpting machines, we are able to treat two areas at once for shorter treatment times.
What do two CoolSculpting machines mean to me as a patient?
As the first and only Atlanta practice to offer dual CoolSculpting machines, we are able to treat two areas at once cutting a patient’s average treatment time in half.
What is DualSculpting?
Available in Atlanta only at Dermatology Associates, DualSculpting is the ability to have two areas treated with CoolSculpting at once. Before now, if you were looking to target unwanted fat on the flanks, you would have to receive treatment one side at a time. Now we can treat both sides at once to decrease your total treatment time.
Will I need multiple CoolSculpting treatments?
Multiple CoolSculpting treatments are not necessary, but many CoolSculpting patients do pursue an additional treatment in order to maximize their results.
