Skin Blemishes & Acne

Your skin is visible to everyone; and just like all of your internal organs, your skin is a unique organ that can have different spots or excess on it compared to others. Many of us have facial blemishes spots or bumps that we would rather be without. Thankfully, there are some treatment options for those who feel self-conscious about their particular skin blemishes.

Treatment options vary based on the amount and severity of blemishes needing repair. Acne and acne scarring, for example, have numerous routes for treatment: from facials to chemical peels, laser treatments to surgical excision, there are options for all shapes, sizes, and severity of acne and acne scarring. Adult rosacea, red spots or facial redness, are usually treated with our line of laser equipment. Rosacea, if left untreated, will only get worse and eventually produce pimples or bumps. For cases of mild skin blemishes like moles or freckles, we usually perform a quick, painless procedure with our laser equipment.

We keep mentioning our laser technology to treat some skin blemishes. Our lasers are found in our own specialty center called the Laser Institute of Georgia. Our advantage is years of experience treating patients with the laser systems at DAA; the doctors have over 15 years experience with using lasers and are trained to use all 20 different kinds of lasers available. Our Candela laser is used for treating unsightly birthmarks and portwine stains. The Krypton laser is used for removing small spider veins and red marks on the face. The Q-Switched Ruby laser is used to remove facial growths, age spots, and tattoos. The CO2 Ultrapulse laser is used for eyelid surgery, hair transplantation, and repair of fine-line wrinkling, as well as for treatment of some skin cancers. The YAG laser is used for skin problems and can also be used for treatment of tattoos that are particularly difficult and colorful.

Cases of acne will be referred to our dermatology center where we will assess your needs and offer a few alternatives for treatment: topicals, prescription medicines, etc. Acne is a beast best fended off with the proper equipment and we are confident we can get you to where you want to be. Birthmarks can be taken care of with laser treatments in as early as the first weeks of a baby’s life! If you are looking for wart removal, we recommend laser treatments if all the other options (liquid nitrogen, acids, electric needles) have failed to stop a recurrent growth.

IsoLaz™

Dermatology Associates of Atlanta’s in-house specialty center, The Laser Institute of Georgia , is pleased to be one of only two practices in Georgia to offer the revolutionary acne treatment   IsoLaz™.  This new FDA approved treatment has been proven effective in dramatically reducing the appearance of acne, uneven skin tone, sun damage to facial skin, noticeable veins, and even eliminating unwanted facial hair in patients.

Unique in its use of Photopneumatics™ technology, IsoLaz™ combines the cleaning power of suction and the healing power of laser light.  The short treatments, usually accomplished within half an hour, consist of the application of vacuum technology to extract the dirt and debris clogging the pores and the simultaneous application of laser light to destroy the microscopic acne-causing bacteria living deep within the skin.

The Isolaz™ system is pain-free, safe for all skin types (even sensitive skin), requires no pre-procedure numbing, and no post-procedure down time.  The exact number of IsoLaz™ treatments required by each patient can only be determined after a consultation with one of Dermatology Associates laser specialists.  Contact our office today for more information.
