New Dermatology Treatments in Atlanta

DAA Holiday CardBelieve it or not, we’re wrapping up yet another year at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta (DAA). We love this time of year for so many reasons, from the cheerfulness of the holidays to the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. And last but not least, we love the chance to reflect back on another great year. As our long-time patients know, there’s always something new and exciting going on at DAA, and 2015 was no exception. Here are just a few of the new treatments, products, and even specialty centers we welcomed this year:

  • The Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss

For nearly forty years, The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research has been a resource where patients experiencing hair loss and hair thinning can attain excellent results through surgical and minimally invasive methods. Now, The Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss joins us to offer an unmatched level of specialization and focus on female hair loss as the first dedicated women’s hair loss center in Georgia.

  • Non-Surgical Fat Reduction for the Chin

In the past, liposuction has been the only way to target and remove stubborn excess fat under the chin (also known as the dreaded “double chin”). But this year, two innovative non-surgical procedures have opened the door for a large number of patients: Kybella™ injections and the CoolMini™ applicator for CoolSculpting®.

  • PicoSure™ for Facial Rejuvenation

The PicoSure® laser is one of the most advanced tools for safe and effective laser tattoo removal, but thanks to the new FOCUS™ Lens Array, this laser can now be used to restore firming collagen to aging skin and to minimize wrinkles, age spots, and acne scars.

  • New Dermal Fillers for the Cheeks and Hands

Facial fillers are already highly popular among those who want to reduce wrinkles with minimal downtime, and this year, two new products expanded their repertoire. Restylane® Lyft goes beyond smile lines and marionette lines to also restore youthful volume to the cheek area and fill in the “hollows” that form with age. Radiesse®, which has long been a popular facial filler because of its long-lasting results, is now FDA-approved for use in the hands, one of the fastest-aging areas of the body.

  • Topical Hair Loss Treatments

Every hair loss patient is unique, and this year we’ve added a few more treatments to our toolbox to allow us to select the best and most successful combination for each patient. One of these additions is an effective line of MONAT Hair Systems, made with safe, natural products focused on restoring health to the hair and scalp. We’ve also recently added AQ Advanced Hair Complex, a topical serum which focuses on repairing damaged hair follicles using innovative growth factors to combat hair loss. Both of these products join our existed list of non-surgical hair restoration treatments, including platelet rich plasma (PRP), prescription topical compounds, red light therapy, and, coming soon, customized prescription shampoo.

Though it’s been a busy year of providing our patients with the latest and most effective treatments for general and cosmetic dermatology, at the end of the day, helping our patients to be healthier and happier was our favorite part of 2015. From all of us at DAA, we wish you joyous holidays and a Happy New Year!
