Laser Hair Removal
As one of the few offices who participated in the trial testing for the first laser hair removal treatment, Dermatology Associates of Atlanta has nearly unparalleled experience in using laser technology for hair removal. DAA’s providers use GentleLase 755 nm for lasting hair removal results. The GentleLase 755 nm can remove unwanted face and body hair by sending a heat energy beam directly to targeted hair, without disturbing surrounding skin. Laser hair removal must be performed over several sessions to ensure long lasting hair removal. We also offer the GentleYAG®1064 for hair removal in darker skin types.
In addition to laser hair removal, Dermatology Associates of Atlanta offers other laser services including wrinkle removal, tattoo removal, birthmark removal, age and sun spot removal.
EpiLight is another hair removal option that uses intense pulsed light (EPL) to destroy hair follicles. Similar to laser hair removal, the EpiLight targets the hair follicle without harming surrounding skin. This procedure requires multiple sessions for hair removal results and is most effective when used on dark hair.
Electrolysis sends electrical currents into each hair follicle, eliminating hair growth. Performed by Certified Clinical Electrologist Jan Buckley-Levenson, electrolysis provides hair removal that is tailored to your specific skin and hair type. This procedure is ideal for people with light or white, fine hair that does not respond well to other hair removal procedures.
Am I good candidate for hair removal?
If you have unwanted body hair you may be a good candidate for hair removal treatment. Our providers will discuss your hair removal options and what will provide the best results for your skin and hair type.
Which type of hair removal procedure will work best for me?
Lasers are attracted to dark pigmentation, so dark hair and light skin responds very well to laser hair removal. For patients with lighter or white fine hair, electrolysis can effectively remove unwanted hair.
How does the laser hair removal treatment work?
Heat energy targets the hair follicle to inhibit future hair growth while leaving the surrounding skin untouched. Since hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments will be necessary to treat and remove hair.
How many laser treatments do I need to have for long lasting results?
Most patients results after 3 to 6 laser hair treatments depending on their skin. Our certified laser hair removal technician will provide a more specific estimate during your laser treatment consultation.
What does laser hair removal feel like?
Many of our patients compare the feeling to a quick snapping sensation. Most patients have minimal discomfort during the treatment and immediately return to their daily activities. We can also provide a topical numbing cream for patients to use prior to treatment.
