Dr. Edmond I. Griffin founded Dermatology Associates of Atlanta, PC (DAA) nearly 40 years ago and has devoted his career to skin care—head to toe. He is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon and a recognized expert in the field of dermatological surgery, specializing in hair restoration, skin diseases, and overall skin care.
After growing up in Albany, Georgia, Dr. Griffin completed his B.S. in chemistry at the University of Georgia, then went on to earn his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. Upon completing his internship at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital in pediatrics, Dr. Griffin was commissioned in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was assigned to a pediatric clinic. He then completed his residency at the Mary Hitchcock Hospital at Dartmouth College.
Since 1976, Dr. Griffin’s primary specialty has been hair replacement surgery and he has devoted his resources and time to improving his mastery of field. By attending conferences, workshops, congresses, and forums both in the U.S. and abroad, Dr. Griffin continuously stays abreast of and contributes to the latest advancements in all aspects of dermatology and hair restoration. He has worked individually with such experts and innovators in the field as Dadour of Paris, the Ungers of Toronto, Alt of Minnesota, Mayer and Fleming of Beverly Hills, Pitanguy of Rio de Janeiro, and Yarborough of New Orleans.
Since founding DAA, Dr. Griffin has opened nine different specialty centers including The Laser Institute of Georgia, The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research, The Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss, and Skin Medics™ Medical Spa. In addition to fulfilling his passion for patient care every day at DAA, Dr. Griffin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a member of the clinical faculty at Emory University Medical School and is on the staff of Scottish Rite Children’s, Northside, and St. Joseph’s Hospitals, while also being an active member of the Atlanta Dermatology Association, American Society of Liposuction Surgery, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, Medical Association of Georgia, and American Medical Association.
Throughout his career, Dr. Griffin has stayed at the forefront of technology and innovation, offering special techniques in acne scarring as well as studying the intricacies of stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Especially in the earlier years of his career, Dr. Griffin dedicated much of his focus to teaching others. Not only did surgeons of varying specialties from across the country visit and observe Dr. Griffin’s techniques, but international surgeons also traveled to the U.S. to learn the skills he had mastered. In addition to training others in the field, Dr. Griffin has given lectures at nationwide meetings for organizations like the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
